Old computer was Dell Dimension 2350 with XP SP3 (I think 32 bit). New Machine ASUS A8 Quad core with Windows 8 (arrgghh!) Downloaded Easy Transfer (for XP32 bit as indicated by Microsoft) onto XP machine and copied the files etc as indicated to Flash drive. I then downloaded what I could find on Microsoft for transferring files etc (Easy Transfer) into the New machine but it said it was the 'wrong platform' and I found noting to work with when I tried to run it anyway. It appears all the Easy transfer downloads are for Windows 7, yet there is no apparent way to go to Widows 8 which is what comes with all the new computers. This is for office machine and I need help soon since we must transfer files, bookmarks, etc. Googling has not helped yet.

I had manually copied files without Easy transfer and copied to new computer, but that di not work even after installing the program needed for the work she has to do--so it seems I need an intermediary program to get data etc from the XP machine to the 8 machine.
