I want to transfer/move my windows 8 (not pro) product key that come preinstalled with my samsung ativ tab 7 into another computer. is it possible? I've refreshed my windows assuming that my product key on samsung was deactivated and tried to enter the product key (in another computer) through windows 8 setup.exe that i've downloaded, but then this message appeared " This product key cannot be used to install a retail version of windows 8". I've read some threads in this forum, that said it is possible by contacting microsoft support via telephone. I've called the support, but he said it can't be transfered because it is preinstalled product key. So which is right? is it possible or not? If it is possible let me know how. Your Windows 8 preinstalled license is an OEM license:
OEM versions of Windows are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:
- OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel
- OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on
- OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
- OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

You will need to purchase a new license:
