Reviewing Internet Explorer (IE) 7 Add-on or BHO Tools
How to review Internet Explorer (IE) 7 add-on or Browser Helper Object (BHO) tools on Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1)?
✍: FYIcenter.com
If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Internet Explorer (IE) version 6, there is no easy way to get a list of all add-on or Browser Helper Object (BHO) tools that have been installed on your system. IE itself has no interface to show you the list of installed add-on or BHO tools.
One way to review all installed add-on or BHO tools is to use HijackThis.
1. Install and run HijackThis. See our HiJackThis tutorial for help.
2. Click "Do a system scan only". HijackThis will return a scan report.
3. Look the "O2 - BHO" and "O3 - Toolbar" sections, you will see something like:
O2 - BHO: Yahoo! Toolbar Helper - {02478D38-C3F9-4EFB-9B5... O2 - BHO: IeCaptureBho Object - {7c1ce531-09e9-4fc5-9803-... O2 - BHO: AlxTB BHO Class - {F1FABE79-25FC-46de-8C5A-2C6D... O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082... O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0...
This give you an idea of what are installed as IE add-on or BHO on your system.
