CVR*.tmp.cvr Temporary Files
What are CVR*.tmp.cvr temporary files on my Windows 7 computer? Can I remove them?
✍: FYIcenter.com
CVR*.tmp.cvr Temporary Files are created by Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. They are located in the \Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\Temp folder.
Each time when you start Microsoft Office program, it will create a new CVR*.tmp.cvr with 4 random Hex digits in the middle of the file name like: CVRD5F9.tmp.cvr.
The file name extension .CVR stands for Cockpit Voice Recorder. It is used to record information to generate an error report to be sent to Microsoft in case the program crashes.
When you close the program, CVR*.tmp.cvr files are removed by the program. But Outlook is an exception, it fails to remove the CVR*.tmp.cvr file. So you will have a lots of CVR*.tmp.cvr files left in the \Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\Temp folder, after using Outlook for some time.
And most of CVR*.tmp.cvr files are actually empty. And no body knows why Outlook is not removing empty temporary files.
Yes. You can delete CVR*.tmp.cvr files. They are useless.
