Here is a sample search session that shows you the symtom of an IE search hijacker:

Start IE with www.google.com. Enter "IE security" and click search. You will get a normal search result page as shown here: Google Search Result .

If you look at the first entry in the search result, it is linked to a Microsoft IE security page. However, if you click it, the IE search hijacker will hijacker this link and take you an advertiser page as shown below: IE Search Hijacker Example .
