Confirming Windows Phone Using Wi-Fi not Data Plan
How can I confirm my Windows Phone is using my Wi-Fi not my mobile data plan?

Whenever Wi-Fi is available, Windows Phone will automatically use Wi-Fi instead of using your mobile data plan. But if you want to confirm, you can follow this tutorial:
On Start, tap "Internet Explorer" and enter "whatismyip.com" in the address field. You will see an IP address displayed like this:
Your IP Address Is: 123.123.123.123
If the displayed IP address matches your Wi-Fi network address, then your Windows Phone is using your Wi-Fi bandwidth.
If the displayed IP address matches your mobile phone provider's network address, then your Windows Phone is using your mobile data plan, which is usually much more expensive that Wi-Fi bandwidth.
If you don't know your Wi-Fi network address, you can connect you computer to the Wi-Fi network and visit "whatismyip.com". It will display your Wi-Fi network IP address for you.
