Can we uninstall only people app without uninstalling mail and calendar app

I got an email informing me that Facebook won't be synced anymore with the People app. I'm fine with that so I decided to remove it. When I did it removed my email and calendar app.... why? Isn't there a way to keep the Calendar and Mail app without having the non-useful People app?
