Keyboard stops functioning during W8 install on new PC build

I built a new PC using a ASUS Z87 Pro motherboard and Intel i7 CPU. The keyboard and mouse work fine on the EFI BIOS screens but stop working when I attempt to load Windows 8, preventing me from loading the product key. I have tried two different keyboards with the same results.
