Q

- No dual boot on the pc
- Yes I tried the automatic repair but with the ISO disk. I don't have an installation disk because I bought the update for Vista to windows 8 online from Microsoft. The automatic repair has been tried in different circumstances. I made the ISO disk after installing windows 8. Later on I upgraded the pc to 8.1.
- After trying to reinstall everything seems to have run succesfully. However, when retrying, the same message reappears without any improvement.
- Prior to the problem, no HWchanges have been made on the computer. I installed utorrent and later I tried to download an example of a torrent (I don't remember which one). Then the problem accured.

Suggest you to create another installation media from the link below and try to perform Automatic Repair.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

After creating the disc, boot the computer from the disc and then try the following method to perform an Automatic Repair.

Contact the computer manufacturer to know on how to change the boot order of the computer. You will have to change the boot device to CD/DVD drive and then boot from the Windows 8 installation disk.
In the “Windows Setup” dialog box that appears, set the Time and currency format, Keyboard or input method and the language to install and then click “Next”.
Click on “Repair your computer” from the lower left corner.
From the “Choose an option screen”, click on “Troubleshoot”.
Click “Advanced Options” in the “Troubleshoot” screen.
In the “Advanced Options” screen, click “Automatic Repair”.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Automatic Repair.

You can try to rebuild the BCD and check. To do this, type the following commands at the Windows RE command prompt:

•bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
•c:
•cd boot
•attrib bcd -s -h -r
•ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
•bootrec /RebuildBcd

Once this is done try running startup repair from WinRE.
