Removing GoogleDesktop.exe - Startup Application - Google Desktop Search
How to remove GoogleDesktop.exe from the startup application list to gain performance and reduce security risk?
✍: FYIcenter.com
Startup application GoogleDesktop.exe is a desktop search application that provide full text search over your email, documents, files, and cached Web pages. See our GoogleDesktop.exe - Startup Application tutorial for more details.
If you want to remove GoogleDesktop.exe from the startup application list to gain performance and reduce security risk, you can follow this tutorial.
There seems to be no way to use Google Desktop Search's own configuration to remove itself from the startup application list. So we have to use HijackThis as startup application management tool.
1. Run C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
2. Click "Do a system scan only".
3. Locate the following entry in the scan report and click Fix Checked.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Google Desktop Search] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe" /startup
4. Restart your Windows system.
