Windows 8 Video app won't play my purchased videos

Q

I purchased 2 seasons of Franklin and Bash in the Windows 8 Video app a week or so ago on my Windows 8 laptop, and I chose to stream several of the episodes back then. Now I am unable to play (stream or download) any of the episodes using the very same laptop.

Yes, I am signed in to the account. Under "my videos", the 2 seasons show up. But when I click on those seasons, the only option available is to purchase the season pass. There is no option to play the episode.

Weirdly, it knows where I left off on an episode I hadn't finished watching, as it has the progress bar for the episode 3/4 of the way filled in. But when I click on the episode, the options are either to buy the episode for $1.99 or to delete it.

When I try to buy the episode again (just as an exercise,) it prints out in bold red that I already purchased the season pass for this show.

I did upgrade to the latest version of the Windows 8 Video app. Is there some known bug with the app that needs to be fixed?

Since it shows that you have already purchased the episode, when you try to purchase it again, your purchase is still valid and available in the purchase history. If you are unable to play the episodes that you’ve already purchased, it could be caused due to some local app error. I would suggest you to try these steps and check:

Method 1: Apps troubleshooter

This troubleshooter can detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors with the apps. You can download and run this troubleshooter from here:

Method 2: Reset cache

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to reset the store cache and then check if you face the issue. You can refer to these steps:

1. Press Windows key +R, type WSReset and press enter
1. Check if it takes you to a store page which displays that the cache has been reset
1. Now try to install the app and check.
