Modern Mail app slow or crashes if you have a large number of folders
I have a large amount of mail and upgraded to the new mail app, when I open mail or switch folders the app gets real slow. How can I fix this?
✍: Guest
fter upgrading to your Mail app to version 318 you may have noticed that when you open mail or switch folders/accounts the app slows down or crashes. This happens if you have a large numbers of folders, usually around 200 to 300.
Note: To find out which version you have,:
1. Open the Mail app.
2. Swipe from the right edge of the screen or move your mouse to the upper right-hand corner.
3. Select Settings and click About. (The version number will be displayed.)
Workaround
The only way to avoid this issue is to decrease the number of folders.
Once you decrease the number of folders to a more manageable level, the Mail app will operate normally.
