Fairly new laptop gets random hangs and freezes.

Recently I have been experiencing several stutters in my laptop. I just got this laptop around 3-4 months ago. I am running Windows 8.

In case these are significant, here are the specs of my laptop:

HP Pavilion G4

Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz

4.0GB RAM

Intel HD Graphics 4000

ATI Radeon HD 7670M

I would try disabling any background tasks. Here's how:
1). Press Ctrl-Shift-Escape to show the Task Manager
2). Go to the Startup tab, and disable everything shown
3). Reboot your computer
