I followed some advice on here with the device manager. I accessed it and found my camera. I clicked properties and it says an error message.

It says Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

This just happened too. My camera has always worked fine. I have Windows 8 but I've always had it. I haven't downloaded anything recently..I have no idea why my camera just stopped working. I already tried the update and it says I have the latest version.

Just because you have the latest version does not mean it is a working copy. Drivers become corrupt all the time. I would download the newest driver, remove the old one, then install the new one.
