The speed of the network connection is determined by the network device. On most computers, the Ethernet card supports a speed of 100Mbps, and the wireless card supports a speed of 54Mbps. You can not make them go faster, and probably no need to do so. When you connect to the Internet, other parts of the connection is much slower than 54Mbps. For example, if you download a file from Microsoft site, you may get a speed of 100KB/sec, which is only 0.8Mbps. -- FYIcenter
