The Shutdown (Power) button on Windows 8 is hidden under the Settings of the Charms bar.
Here is how to create a shortcut directly on the Start screen.
It gives you a one click shutdown button that is always handy.
Open Windows Explorer.

3. Type the location of the item: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0
4. Click Next
5. Type a name for this shortcut: Shutdown
6. Click Finish
7. Press Windows Key to return to Start Page
8. Right-Click on the new tile
9. Click Open file location
10. Right click the shortcut and select Properties/Change Icon
11. Click OK if you get an error message.
12. Click the Shutdown Icon
13. Click OK/Apply/OK
