Just got a new desktop with OS Windows 8, IE 10, mail icon says default mail not installed properly

Just got a new desktop with OS Windows 8, IE 10. When I click on mail icon on IE toolbar it says it can't perform request because default mail client isn't installed properly. Everything was installed by Dell & I assume done properly. How can I fix this? If I click on mail on start page or when I go to Outlook.com my mail seems to work fine. I know it's trivial but its driving me nuts.

A default program is the program that Windows uses automatically when you open a particular type of short-cuts. I would suggest you to choose one of mail account to be the default program that starts whenever you click on mail icon in Internet Explorer.
