Why does Windows 8 do this?
My computer is a multi-boot system. It has Windows 7 Professional SP1 and Windows 8 Pro with Media Center on it.
I have Windows 7 set as the default operating system.
If I used Windows 7 last it always asks me(before any operating system loads) what operating system do I want to boot. When I select one it instantly boots my choice. No problem there.
If I shut down the computer from Windows 8, it acts like Windows 8 is my default and it boots Windows 8 and then asks me what I want to boot. If I select Windows 8 it takes me to the login screen. If I select Windows 7 it shuts down and then it boots Windows 7. But, 90% of the time when it asks for my choice, my mouse and keyboard just die and then I'm watching the 30 second counter go down and then I'm forced to use Windows 7. Why can't it just act like Windows 7 is the default all the time?
Usually to prevent this I restart Windows 8(instead of shutting down) and boot Windows 7 and then shut down from the login screen there. But this is starting to annoy me. What do I do?
