read-only flag reset on files copied from cd to pc
I have two sets of identical files, one set on a CD and one set on a flash drive.
All files have their read-only attribute turned on.
When I copy the files from the flash drive to a PC, everything comes across as expected.
However when I copy the files from the CD to the same PC, the files come across, but the read-only attribute on all files gets turned off.
No error messages appear.
This happens on multiple PCs / multiple CDs / multiple locations.
Can someone tell me why the read-only attributes are being reset only when I am using a CD and not from a flash drive?
I am currently using Windows 8 Pro, but I have seen the same results on Windows 7 and XP.

This is by design and has always been so.
