Windows 8 - Cannot burn disc with Windows Media Player after refreshing the PC as well.

Q

cannot burn, was ok then nothing, had this problem for a week now, refreshed, changed registry, tried everything? Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive.

There are some more things that I would like to know to diagnose the route cause.

What is the type of DVD or CD you want to create?

What is the make and model of your computer?

Did you make any changes to your computer prior to this issue?

Since you have already refreshed your computer, this issue could occur due to pending updates or the drivers are being corrupt or outdated.

I would suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Install Windows updates

Updated drivers might be available through Windows Update. When you check Windows Update, click View available updates to see if an updated driver is available for your device.

Refer:

Keep your PC up to date with Windows Update

If the issue still persists, follow method 2

Method 2: Update the latest drivers from the website.
Go to the manufacturer’s website and install the latest disc drivers.
