Your PC will restart in X minutes
Why I am keep getting the "Your PC will restart in x minutes, x seconds" message on my Windows 8 system? It's annoying that I have to stop working, closing all applications, and wait for Windows 8 to install updates, shut down, and reconfigure updates.

You are getting the "Your PC will restart in x minutes, x seconds" message as shown here, because by default, Windows Update is set to "Install updates automatically" on your Windows 8.
Your PC will restart in 13 minutes, 28 seconds Your PC needs to restart to finish installing updates. If you've already saved your work, you can restart now. Otherwise, you should close this message and use remaining time to save anything you don't want to lose.
You can go to "Control Panel", "System and Security", then "Windows Update" to see the current setting.
