Auto mute/Can't apply

Q

I'm using windows 8 and whenever I go to my headset properties into levels I have to constantly ummute my microphone and when I do it mutes itself again. I can't apply any options for the levels section only. If anyone knows how I can keep myour microphone ummute I'll be great full because I need to use Skype for buisness.

Please answer this question to get more clarity on this issue.

Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

This issue might occur due to incorrect system file settings. Sorry to know that you are facing this issue.

Let us boot the computer in a clean boot state and check if this helps. When you start Microsoft Windows, typically there are several programs that start automatically and run in the background that may interfere with the game. These programs may include antivirus and system utility programs. When you perform a clean startup procedure, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7, Windows 8:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow steps under “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” in the article to boot to normal startup.

Further, you may run the SFC scannow tool and check if the issue persists. SFC /scannow is a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the /scannow switch, the tool will scan all of the important Windows files on your computer and replace them as necessary. Missing and corrupt operating system files (like many DLL files) are arguably the biggest cause of major Windows issues.

Refer to these steps to perform a SFC scan:

a) Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated command prompt.

b) In the command prompt type the following command: sfc /scannow and press enter.

c) After the scan, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Once the scan is done, restart the computer and ensure that the computer is up to date with the latest Windows Updates.
