Touch Keyboard no longer automatically pops up in MS Office documents

Q

I have a Surface Pro running Windows 8. I use this at the front desk for visitors in my office. I built an Access Database where employees click in a form and sign in. What used to happen, is that when you touched a field in the form, the touch keyboard would pop up automatically in order for you to complete that field. That no longer happens. I now have to swipe the right side of the screen to manually bring it up. I have read that this is not an option but I assure you, it DID work before.

Can someone please tell me how to get this back to normal? It no longer works in ANY MS Office applications. Also, it is currently set to Automatic and not Manual and has never changed.

As per the description, I understand that you are experiencing issue with the touch keyboard no longer automatically pops up in MS Office documents.

I can understand this is frustrating when you have to manually pull up the soft keyboard whenever you need to type something.

Don’t worry, I will try my best to help you.

I would suggest you to try System Restore to earlier date and check if that helps. Please follow the steps given below.

Press ‘Windows Key + R key’

In the run window type ‘rstrui.exe’ and click on OK

Click on next in the System Restore window.

Now choose the restore point of your choice, and try to restore your computer back to earlier state.

System Restore disclaimer: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

Important: If the issue is specific to Office, I would suggest you to try reinstalling the Office and check if it helps.
