Download Program Files (DPF) are special programs loaded in
your computer system whenever Internet Explorer (IE) browser.
A good example of DPF is Java VM.
Download Program Files (DPF) are stored in a special folder called:
"C:\windows\Downloaded Program Files". If you look at your DPF folder,
you will see some DPF entries like these:
- Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2 - This is to support Java Applets in your IE browser.
- MUWebControl Class - Microsoft Update Web Control
- Shockwave Flash Object - Adobe Flash Player
- Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool
- YInstStarter Class - Yahoo! Inst Helper
HijackThis gives this interesting warning to DPF:
Unfortunately, due to the lack of security of IE, malcious sites let IE
automatically download porn dialers, bogus plugins, ActiveX
Objects etc to this folder, which haunt you with popups,
huge phone bills, random crashes, browser hijackings and whatnot. |
