transfering windows to another hardrive?

Q

Ive got this idea in my head, but I don't know if it will work or how to do it. i have two internal hard drives, the smaller one has windows eight. larger one has windows seven. the smaller drive is starting to go bad though, so what i really would like to do is re-partition the larger one, transfer win eight over, KEEP win seven, and maybe even through in a linux distro while i'm at it.....oh yeah.... and, i do not have any windows instillation disks, so clean installs are out..... I've been playing with the idea of disk cloning, but all the software I've seen requires deleting the destination disk....and I don't have access to that much virtual storage, [not with out actually paying for cloud space, and who want to do that?

There is no option for cloning Windows 8, however If you need to reinstall Windows 8 or you want to install it on a partition and you don't have installation media, you can create it using the Windows 8 Setup program. For more information refer this article:

Create installation media for Windows 8.1

Disclaimer: I highly recommend backing up all of your important files and folders onto an external storage device before attempting any type of OS repair or upgrade.
