How to recover a file on a flash drive that Windows removed

Windows stated there was a problem with my removable disk (flash drive) and asked to scan the drive and fix it... other posts I read said you should do this. I did it but now a very important file on the flash drive is gone. I always use the safely remove hardware and eject media option before removing the flash drive. How can I recover this file?

You can't, it's gone. You'll need to get it from your most recent backup copy. Flash Drives have an average live span of 4 years, but many die younger (about 30% die within the first 2 years). And remember, some die faster. Keep this in mind when using flash drives and always keep a copy of your files in a backup or a online place like OneDrive.
