I've had Windows 10 (64bit) installed for a while without issue; however, upon my most recent boot, I'm getting a black screen with no mouse immediately after the Windows 10 logo and spinning dots. The computer doesn't progress past this point.

After doing some research online, i've done the following:

I have tried rebooting 3 times to get into system recover mode but a similar situation occurs - I get the Windows logo with spinning dots with "Starting System Recovery" along the bottom, followed immediately by a black screen.

I have tried downloading the Windows 10 64 & 32 bit ISO and booted from both CD and USB. I've tried launching both versions and again, Windows logo + spinning dots followed by black screen. On the ISO disk, there is also an option to hit F8 to see advanced options (for 64 bit and 32 bit) - in this list, there are the options to boot into Safe Mode, Safe Mode + Networking, Safe Mode + Command Prompt, Enable Boot Logging, Enable low-resolution Video, Debugging Mode, Disable Automatic restart on system failure, Disable Driver Signature Enforcement, Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware Driver, and Start Windows Normally - out of these, I've only tried the Safe Mode options to no avail. - Windows logo appears (this time with no spinning dots) followed immediately by a black screen.

I have a monitor hooked up via. DVI and a TV hooked up via. HDMI to the onboard ports- both are displaying the same screen content.

I am at wits end and I have spent way too much time failing.

This issue could have been caused due to incorrupt or incompatible drivers.

I suggest you to disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) Except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

Try to perform Automatic Repair in Windows recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might prevent Windows from starting. Automatic Repair scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so your computer can start correctly. Download a Windows 10 ISO in DVD or USB.

a) After you boot your computer using Windows DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option screen.

e) Click advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

f) Select Automatic repair.

Once you boot to the start screen, I suggest you to update display drivers and check for the issue. Follow the steps below to do so,

1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.

2. Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.

3. Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.
