svchost.exe - Service - Alerter

Q

Can I disable Windows service "Alerter" to speedup my computer?

✍: FYIcenter.com

A
Windows service "Alerter" - Notifies selected users and computers of administrative alerts. If the service is stopped, programs that use administrative alerts will not receive them. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

Execution command: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalService

If you are using your computer at home, you can disable "Alerter", freeing up at least 1MB of memory.

If you are using your computer on an office network, your network administrator may want you to run this service to receive alerts.

Follow our Disabling Windows Service tutorial, if you want to disable this service.
