Screen "Flickers" when I click in-game

Q

A couple days ago I went on my laptop (HP Pavillion Sleekbook 14) and I decided to go play some roblox. I mainly play games similar to it, but anyways, when everything loaded I started to play and sometimes in games you have to spam click, so when I started to spam click (I use a wired mouse) a white screen flickered for half second, and now it happens alot and it can make me lag, etc. It gets really annoying and I want someway to stop it.

Would like to ask a few questions, in order to understand the issue better.

How are you trying to play the game? Is it online or do you install it before playing?

This issue may occur when there is a virus on the computer or if the drivers are outdated. Hence I would recommend you to try the following methods and check if the issue persists.

Method 1:

Step 1: Try Safe Mode

Safe mode is the configuration of Windows, when it is running on only basic set of drivers and all the startups are disabled. To know more about safe mode, follow the article below:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-safe-mode

If the issue is resolved in safe mode, follow step 2 after restarting the computer in regular mode.

Step 2: Clean Boot

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. To know more, follow the article below:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section ‘How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting’.

Method 2:

Step 1: Uninstall the Display Device Drivers

Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

Expand Display Adapters from the device list, right click on the graphic card name and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

Step 2: Install latest driver

I would suggest you to install the latest graphic driver available for the graphic card model that you are using, by downloading it from the manufacturer’s website itself. Make sure you select the correct operating system and architecture. You may refer to the following link to go to the support website of HP and download drivers for HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14.
